Review Program
(Visit Date):

There is 1 more review conducted prior to 2014 not shown.
Description of Services:The facility generally knows in advance which equipment (CPUs, monitors, etc.) can be refurbished based on performance specifications; equipment with performance not meeting refurbishing specifications, and equipment which is otherwise non-refurbishable, are routed to an “end-of-life” disassembly area where manual removal of components is done. For end-of-life, various components are removed and packed separately in “Gaylord” boxes for offsite material recovery. All hard drives which are end-of-life are punched on a special bench to destroy any operational capability. Separated items include hard drives, circuit boards, cables, power supplies, and various metal and plastic components.

Refurbishable items go through extensive testing and are repaired as required for resale. Hard drives undergo a multi-stage DOD compliant “military wipe”—several dozen CPUs with drives are stacked at the data wipe bench and connected by cables to the data wipe computer, which performs the data overwrite and erase functions. Additional components in the CPU are tested and repaired if necessary. Refurbished items are stored onsite, and sold through various outlets.

Batteries are removed from incoming components as required (especially end-of-life equipment). Batteries have contacts taped over to prevent shorting, and are stored in boxes or drums for shipment to offsite recyclers.
