Description of Services:The facility landfills both hazardous and nonhazardous wastes, as defined by the German government. Additionally, wastes are disposed in segregated “monofill” areas, which separate asbestos, organic, oil-containing and heavy metal wastes from other inorganic wastes. Most waste accepted is landfill disposed (solids); no pretreatment is done, except for solidification of leachate, gas condensate and truck rinseate as described above. Municipal solid waste and other recyclable streams are separated into an organic component, which is composted or landfill disposed of as applicable, and various recyclable streams, which are manually separated into plastics, cardboard, paper, cans, glass, etc. (conveyorized magnetic separation is used to remove steel cans); the recycling facility onsite is a separate company (RABA) with common ownership.
