Description of Services:Operations at this site are devoted solely to the thermal treatment of petroleum contaminated soil (PCS). Loads of petroleum contaminated soil arrive at the site, and the loads are weighed at the scale. If the paperwork is acceptable, the soil is offloaded inside the soil storage structure or onto the drum storage pad. Containers of soil are emptied onto a stockpile in the soil storage structure. Soil is fed from the stockpiles in the soil storage structure to a screening machine where debris arriving with the soil is removed. The soil is then dumped into a hopper which feeds a conveyor belt moving the soil into the rotary kiln. After the soil is treated in the kiln, it exits onto a conveyor belt that transfers it to a stacker. The stacker stockpiles the treated soil in 1,000 ton batches. Each 1,000 ton batch is sampled and tested to verify proper treatment of the soil. Soil treated to meet recycle standards is then trucked offsite to various contractors for use as road sub-base material or to the Camden County Landfill in Kingsland for use as alternate daily cover.
