Review Program
(Visit Date):

There is 1 more review conducted prior to 2014 not shown.
Description of Services:Ecocenter accepts primarily silver bearing wastes generated from the film industry (such as waste film development/fixer chemicals and waste film and negatives) for processing and silver recovery, as well as various kinds of consumer electronic wastes (computers, printers, refrigerators, batteries, copiers, confiscated counterfeit electronic goods, etc.) for recycling.

The liquid waste process involves a simple electrolysis technique to remove the silver from the waste solution (paladium wastes can also be processed by this unit). Liquid waste is first drained through a filter into a dumpster, where it is then pumped to storage tanks (1000 liter intermediate bulk containers). The waste liquid is then placed in an electrolysis tank (there are ten 1000 liter electrolysis tanks), where the silver is leached out by the chemical reaction with caustic solution and the electric current. The silver precipitates out of solution onto the zinc cathode charger plates, which are ultimately scrapped to recover the silver sludge which is sent off-site for refining.
