| Description of Services: | The facility conducts mercury processing about 10 days per month. Mercury is sent through a distillation unit at about 500ยบ F and then through two condensers. Vapors are collected through a negative pressure vacuum that operates at about 30 psi. The vacuum system consists of three charcoal columns and two 55-gallon drums of activated carbon. Mercury is collected in a 90 gallon steel tank and then placed into small plastic bottles (about one pound capacity) for resale to primarily dentists, recyclers, and lamp manufacturers. |
