Description of Services:Multimetco, Inc. purchases scrapped automobile catalytic converters and recovers the precious metals contained in the catalyst inside the converters. The catalyst inside the converters is either alumina or cordierite ceramic substrates coated with low concentrations of three metals, platinum, palladium, and rhodium, also known as platinum group metals (PGM). Multimetco, Inc. also recovers precious metals from spent petroleum refining catalyst, particularly, alumina catalyst. Multimetco will purchase the converters and catalyst or process the catalyst on a Toll-Refining basis and return the recovered precious metals to the owner for a processing fee.

Both hazardous, and nonhazardous spent catalyst are received in both dedicated and milk-run shipments, in bulk and in containers such as tri-walls, gaylords, supersacks, and steel drums.

Through the use of a plasma arc furnace, the spent catalysts are smelted in order to separate the ceramic substrate from the precious metals. The facility does not generate waste from the process; all materials from the processing have salable value or can be recycled into various products..
