Description of Services:The facility conducts only processing of drained, non-PCB power transformers received from utility companies. Manual methods of separation are employed, and include sorting, disassembly, cutting, and shearing. A core dismantling shed is also present, which utilizes impact to initially separate cores. A furnace is employed to burn off paper insulation between copper and aluminum sheets, which have been removed from transformer cores. The clean metal is then baled for shipment offsite. Items, such as any equipment containing liquids, debris, PCBs, or asbestos are prohibited. Drained, non-PCB transformers arrive on flat bed trucks, or roll-off trucks in dedicated shipments, brought inside the yard, where they are removed with a fork lift, or crane, and placed in the staging area. Large metal drip pans are present to catch any residual oil which may further drain from the transformers.
