Description of Services:Used oil filter recycling, collection and shredding of oily absorbents for waste-to-energy.

The used oil drained from the filters is pumped into a separate tanker trailer. The used oil is trucked offsite for eventual refining into lube oil base stocks.

The used oil filters are then emptied from the trailer into a feed hopper leading to a two stage shredder and a hammer mill. The shredded steel is separated from the fluff by magnetic separators and put into collection hoppers. The scrap steel is then stored on an onsite stockpile. The scrap metal is trucked to one of two Peoria scrap metal dealers for recycling there. Additional used oil is collected form the process along the way.

The remaining fluff, still soaked with considerable oil, is conveyed to a trailer and transported for use as a solid fuel in the cement kiln. About 50% of the fluff by weight is used oil. The fluff has a heat content on the order of 16,000 BTU's per pound.

In addition to the used oil filters, the facility also takes in spent absorbents. There is a separate, single shredder for this material. The shredded absorbents are mixed in with the fluff recovered from the used oil filters. The spent absorbents can also be sent independently to Covanta in Indianapolis, IN for combustion in the waste-to-energy facility there.
