(Visit Date):

There are 1 more reviews conducted prior to 2014 not shown.

Description of Services:The facility manages nonhazardous liquids and recycles spent photographic solutions, which may be classified as a hazardous waste. The nonhazardous liquids include oil water emulsions, used oil, waste fuel, and glycols.

Spent photographic solution with a silver concentration in the 500-ppm range is pumped into specially designed silver recovery units. The silver recovery method is electrolytic, where the silver is recovered from spent photographic solution by electroplating it on a cathode. Current is passed between two electrodes suspended in the silver solution, and silver is deposited on the cathode in the form of nearly pure silver plate. The cathodes are removed periodically and the silver is stripped off for sale.

Used oils that are determined to have economically recoverable material are place into horizontal tanks. The water, rag layer, and recovered oil are allowed to gravity separate. The separated materials are sent offsite to be treated, burned for energy recovery, or recycled.
