Description of Services:The facility processes electronic scrap per year in individual lots. About 80% of the incoming electronic scrap consists of circuit boards. The remainder consists primarily of integrated circuits and other boards. All of the lots are destined for smelting/recycling at the Noranda Horne smelter in Quebec, Canada. The sole purpose of this facility is to obtain a highly representative sample of the entire lot of electronic scrap that is in a form that can be analyzed to accurately and precisely determine the metals-content of the scrap. Processes used include shredding. Metals typically found in the scrap include copper, gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. The generator of the scrap is reimbursed by Noranda based on the value of the metals in the scrap.
