Description of Services:SRT brings petroleum contaminated soil (PCS) to the site to be recycled, i.e., used as a secondary raw material in the production of asphalt. All of the incoming PCS is received onsite in bulk shipments. Most of the throughput is made up of relatively small volume jobs with total weights of less than 5,000 tons. Jobs larger than this typically go to other PCS treatment facilities, not asphalt plants, which compete for the large jobs.

About 15% of the incoming PCS has total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentrations of less than 100 ppm, and do not require processing onsite. It is used directly as clean fill for offsite construction jobs. Another 20% of the incoming PCS has TPH concentrations of less than 1,500 ppm and can be sent directly to the asphalt kiln for processing into product asphalt. The remaining 65% of the incoming PCS is steam stripped onsite to reduce the TPH concentrations to < 1,500 ppm.
