| Description of Services: | The facility brings in dangerous and non-dangerous waste. About half of the waste is treated onsite, and the other half is stored and transferred offsite. Treatment essentially consists of stabilization or chemical fixation of solids and sludges. There are 8 bins in the north end of the building, which contains all of the site operations. Six of the bins are used for unloading, mixing, and storage of the incoming solid wastes prior to stabilization. The dangerous and non-dangerous wastes are segregated in separate bins. The wastes from any of the six bins are processed through a mill or mixer with reagents and placed in one of two bins for curing of the treated waste. Reagents used are calcium, cement, and liquid silicates. After the waste batch is cured and tested, it is disposed of offsite at a landfill. |
