Description of Services:The primary business at the facility is the recycling of mercury bearing light bulbs (fluorescent and high intensity discharge [HID] lamps), intentionally crushed glass and other lighting waste. Other activities carried out at the facility include the staging of lamps prior to recycling, accumulation of solid and dangerous wastes from the recycling process, and the storage of lamps, intentionally crushed glass, universal waste batteries and universal waste mercury-containing equipment for recycling. ELNW also stores PCB containing lighting wastes including lighting ballasts, electrical capacitors, and small electrical transformers.

Lamp recycling operations consist of four separate processing units: 1) Dytek 3600 lamp recycling machine for fluorescent lamps and crushed glass this unit separates the mercury phosphor powder, glass cullet, and end caps; 2) a portable lamp crushing machine or u-shaped and small fluorescent lamps; 3) a manual disassembly area for shattershield lamps; and 4) a manual disassembly unit for High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps. Materials are sent offsite for mercury recovery.
