Description of Services:The Company handles un-sellable (“waste”) finished goods or products primarily from the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care industries. There are various reasons that the finished goods cannot be, or are not, sold. These reasons include, but are not limited to, being off-specification or out of date products. About 25% of the incoming materials are simply transferred offsite for treatment, but about 75% of the incoming materials are processed onsite. Processing typically refers to shredding and crushing of the finished goods in their individual containers (such as vials, small bottles, and tubes) followed by some separation of the goods from the container materials, and finally offsite treatment, disposal, or recycling of the components.

The materials are all received primarily in skid-mounted, cubic yard (Gaylord) boxes in trailers and vans. They arrive either already segregated or in mixed lots. If they come in mixed lots, the incoming materials are manually sorted into individual cubic yard boxes based on the type of container (type of plastic or glass) and the type of product (hazardous or non-hazardous, solid or liquid).

The materials are campaigned through the shredder/crushers so that the packaging materials (glass or plastic) can be separated for offsite recycling, treatment, or disposal. In addition, plastic types are also segregated; PET containers are processed separately from HDPE containers. If the separated plastic is clean, it can be sold for re-use as a secondary material, such as in carpets. It is not re-used for product packaging. If it is not clean, it is either landfilled or incinerated. The liquids that come out of the shredder/crusher are put in totes and sent offsite for treatment; the destination and type of treatment depending on the type of aqueous waste. The residuals are stored in totes (liquids) or boxes (solids) before being shipped offsite.
