Description of Services:The primary operation at the facility is the re-refining of used oil into lubricants. Re-refining involves three distillation stages, followed by hydrotreatment. The distillation stages (dehydration, fuel stripping, and vacuum distillation) produce distilled oil, fuel, and asphalt extender products. The distilled oil is then hydrotreated to yield finished base oils and light distillates.
  • Dehydration: Pre-tested feedstock enters the dehydration stage where water and light ends fuel are separated from the oil at approximately 130șC and atmospheric pressure. The separated water and light ends are processed in a thermal oxidizer.
  • Fuel Stripping: Dehydrated oil is fed into this stage of the process where fuel stripping is carried out at typically 230șC under moderate vacuum. The stripped fuel is then condensed and removed to storage for later use in the process or use as an industrial fuel.
  • Vacuum Distillation: Defueled oil is vaporized under extreme vacuum in a thin film evaporator operating at approximately 370șC. It is then condensed into three oil fractions and pumped to intermediate storage prior to hydrotreating. This stage also yields industrial fuel and an asphalt extender.
  • Hydrotreating: In this stage, sulfur, nitrogen, chlorine, and oxygenated compounds are removed. Also, remaining traces of heavy metals and other impurities are eliminated in this high temperature, high pressure, catalytic hydrogenation process. The hydrotreated oil is then separated from the hydrogen in high pressure separators and light distillates are stripped from the oil with steam in a low pressure separator.
  • End Result: The re-refinery produces paraffinic base oils that meet or exceed customer, industry, and government standards, with consistency and quality.
